Salas - serving delicious wraps

Salas, a food truck down Rye Lane opened around 3 years ago, the owner used to run a fruit and veg stall in Peckham before starting up a tasty food truck (loved by locals!). Salas serves Turkish inspired wraps. You can choose from a toasted flatbread wrap of either falafel, chicken shawarma, lamb merguez/shawarma or spiced halloumi, all served with a choice of daily prepared dips (£5/£6). Support local traders by switching your boring M&S sandwich for a freshly prepared wrap!

Opening hours: Most days until about 5pm

Tucked away off Rye Lane is the humble Kurdish restaurant Yada's. A charming and colourful space serving delicious authentic Kurdish delicacies such as chicken shawarma served with garlic lemon, kubba (rice patties stuffed with lamb and nuts) and giant flatbread, called Kalana, a type of Kurdish bread traditionally cooked on a huge, round hot plates. We love the authentic and unpretentious vibe of Yada. Expect real homemade Kurdish food inspired by the owners roots and heritage - he is originally from Southern Kurdistan, in Northern Iraq.

Opening hours: Midday-11pm Tues - Sunday

Fresh naan, kebabs and curries - Asian takeaway Peckham

Sharing the alley with the likes of The Cane Press and Ali Baba fruit stall you will find the no-nonsense Asian Takeaway (yup that is what it is called). This small shack contains a tandoor (big clay like oven) where they cook fresh naan, kebabs, and a have a vast array of curries - a mix of meat and veggie, think chicken, mutton, spinach, chickpeas and lentils. There is no proper seating outside other than a couple of chairs, so very much a takeaway service. The food is fresh, tasty, inexpensive and most importantly prepared by a local - def worth trying!
