From the team behind Coal rooms and Spike & Earl Roastery comes Aside. A relatively new restaurant to the area, serving up seasonal European dishes. The restaurant is relaxed with whitewashed walls, simple wooden benches and an open kitchen so you can watch the chefs in action. The frequently changing menu is made up of small plates like ‘winter tomato, calcots and beef dressing’ (£9) and some more extravagant larger dishes like ‘Hake, wild garlic and pink fir’ (£18). The menu is on the pricier side so if you fancy sampling the food within your budget, then get yourself down there on Tuesday for the set menu!

Family-run Vietnamese street food style restaurant in Peckham. Run by five siblings who have based their menu on recipes their grandma whilst she was a chef in Saigon during the 1940's. After the success of Soho's Bao, co-founders Frank Yeung and Nick Birkett decided to bring a taste of Taiwan to Peckham. Mr Bao is a contemporary Taiwanese-style restaurant serving up a variety of mouth-watering steamed buns (veggies are also catered for, they have some tasty tofu buns!). Mr Bao is a buzzy restaurant, simply decorated with wooden table tops and white washed walls. The queues outside Mr Bao prove this joint is a popular choice for locals- unfortunately you can't book, so be prepared to put your name down and grab a drink at the Rye pub. Check out the menu here

YADA'S

Kurdish restaurant Yada's

Tucked away off Rye Lane is the humble Kurdish restaurant Yada's. A charming and colourful space serving delicious authentic Kurdish delicacies such as chicken shawarma served with garlic lemon, kubba (rice patties stuffed with lamb and nuts) and giant flatbread, called Kalana, a type of Kurdish bread traditionally cooked on a huge, round hot plates. We love the authentic and unpretentious vibe of Yada. Expect real homemade Kurdish food inspired by the owners roots and heritage - he is originally from Southern Kurdistan, in Northern Iraq.

Lovely House Dim Sum

Chinese restaurant - Lovely House Dim Sum

This little lime-green Chinese restaurant really lives up to its name. It is lovely. Don't let its modest appearance fool you, this is one of the tastiest (and cheapest) Chinese restaurants around. The real focus of this place is its no frills authentic Chinese food, with a varied menu of dishes from £2.95- £8. Three things to note: 1. This place gets pretty packed out by locals in the know 2. The staff are super friendly 3. Har Gau dumplings (aka Prawn dumplings) are amazing.

Why we thought lovely house was so lovely.

South Indian restaurant Ganapati is an old lil' Peckham treasure. It has been around since late 2004 and has been serving up authentic and spicy dishes ever since. It's menu is inspired by street food from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The menu changes often with dishes like 'Thali' which is made up of various pickles and mini dishes served on a steel platter which accompanies the main dish. Ganapati is bright, colourful and a little hippy-like, oh and incase you are wondering, Ganapati is one of South India's names for the elephant-headed God Ganesh.

The young team behind Made of Dough started out in late 2014 with a wood-fire mobile pizza oven, travelling to various festivals across the country (who doesn't love a drunken pizza). This then expanded - transforming a shipping container into a pizza kiosk in Brixton.

You can expect all the classics from this trendy pizzeria plus a bar serving Gelato milkshakes including ‘Jackpot Motherf***ing Peanut Butter shake’. Their menu is simple with a list of 6 pizzas to choose from including 'Truffle' portobello mushroom, fior di latte, white alba truffle oil, thyme & buffalo ricotta for £10 or Merguez topped with local butchers "Flock and Herd" lamb.

They promise to pair pizza with good times, great music and loads of fun.
