I want to start by saying, this isn’t a sponsored post. I have not been sent a product to review. I am just sharing a fantastic product that has worked for me.

I haven’t got insomnia but I do, like many others struggle to fall asleep no matter how tired I am. I am also openly envious of those lucky souls who nod of to sleep the moment their heads hit the pillow.

As nightfall comes around my brain tends to either indulge in anxious thoughts, meticulously running through everything I have forgotten to do that day or goes into creative overdrive coming up with lots of new ideas that I really should jot down. Anyway, you get the picture. I don’t fall asleep easily.

I came across Lush’s ‘Sleepy’ lotion by chance, as it was part of a gift set gifted to me by someone who knows all too well about my battle with falling asleep (my mum- I moan to her a lot).

I tried Lush’s lavender infused Sleepy lotion without googling any reviews, so I didn’t have any preconceptions as I didn’t see any of the hype around this high-street product where peeps on Instagram were hailing it ‘magic’.

I have been a fan of Lush for a while. Not only for their gorgeously natural and handmade cosmetics but also their brand values - they do not test on animals nor do they purchase any ingredients from suppliers who test on animals. A perfect combo for me.

Sleepy lotion which is a pretty shade of purple has a smooth consistency that doesn’t feel greasy or irritate my sensitive skin. The lotion is a brilliant moisturiser which is probably down to one of the main ingredients; fair trade cocoa butter.

Something that really stood out to me was the soothing scent. I hate potent lotions but unlike other lavender products I have tried before this lotion doesn’t smell like the more synthetic lavender scent I am used to. The oatmeal infusion and calming lavender flower smells natural, relaxing and almost comforting. The benefits of lavender, an ingredient associated with winding down is well known and is supported by many studies.

So how did I sleep? After applying the lotion to my arms and chest I fell into a deep sleep really quickly and woke up the next morning feeling totally refreshed and relaxed. It quickly became a part of my evening routine helping me unwind and drift off into a peaceful night's sleep.

Since the launch of Sleepy, Lush have released a Twilight body mist in the same gorgeous scent and claiming the same benefits. If you don’t fancy applying the product to your skin, you can spray it onto your pillow and bed sheets for a dreamy nights sleep.

It might not work for everyone but for £8 a tub, this natural remedy is worth a try.

I can see why this product quickly became a cult favourite. I am definitely a Lush Sleepy convert.
