Lovely House Chinese

Amongst the trendy cafes and shops down Bellenden Road sits a little lime-green restaurant. A Chinese restaurant that if judged on its outside appearance one might hastily pass it by.

Yet,"lovely House" Dim Sum close to Peckham Rye station lives up to its name and is well worth checking out. With its relaxed atmosphere, modest decor and friendly service it's great for a quick bite out.

The real focus of this place is its no frills authentic Chinese food, with a varied menu of dishes from £2.95- £8

For those who don't eat meat, it's easy to feel a little hard done by when it comes to dim sum choices. But, Lovely House have a satisfying amount of options. Like these little guys, steamed and then grilled vegetable dumplings.

A must have is their Har Gau aka prawn dumplings. Four plump dumplings which are delicious, so much so that we ordered another four.

Now for the steamed buns, marshmallows of the dim sum world. There are quite a few to choose from; Barbecue pork, chicken, vegetable and Chinese custard (!).  We went for the squidgy vegetable buns.

Come 6pm all tables are filled with locals and a constant stream of people picking up their take aways. With a handful of tables in a small space, Lovely House gets crowded, but in a laid back lively kinda way.
